Sara J. Hoffmann died on July 29, 2015 at the age of 91. She was born in Columbia, SC. Sara was preceded in death by her father and mother, Sam Peter Hoffman and Sarah Mickle Hoffman; brother, Tommy Hoffman; and sister, Sammie Rhodes.

She attended Schneider Elementary and University High School where she was a varsity starter on the basketball team, and Columbia Business College. Sara held positions at several businesses, including Friendly Finance, and she retired from the South Carolina Employee's Association where she was the bookkeeper.

A member of Greene Street United Methodist Church, she was selected woman of the year. She fondly remembered the Greene Street booth at the State Fair where she was the greeter and cashier, visiting with her many friends. Sara was a member of several professional associations including Zonta and Toastmasters, and she was a devoted Gamecock fan.
She is survived by her niece and caregiver, Sallie Rhodes Barkhoff; nephews, LTC Robert Clinton Rhodes (Ret), William Hoffman, Mendel Hoffman all of Columbia; grandniece, Heidi Rhodes; and grandnephews, Robert Christopher Rhodes, Derrick Rhodes, Geoffrey Rhodes and Donald Barkhoff.

The service for Ms. Hoffmann will be held at 2 o'clock, Sunday, August 16th at Greene Street United Methodist Church, with The Rev. David Anderson officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall. Memorials may be made to Greene Street United Methodist Church, 1106 Greene Street, Columbia, SC 29201.
