Sarah Sloan Coleman, 94, of Columbia, died on Thursday, June 25, 2026. Born in Columbia, SC, on December 19, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Rev. Washington Grover Sloan and Mamie Lee Livingston Sloan.
Mrs. Coleman was a lifelong member of Ebenezer Holiness Baptist Church. She was a devout Christian who dedicated her life to others. She loved Jesus and her family, especially all the babies. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and caregiver for many, young and old. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and canning.
Survivors include her children, Ronald Andrew Coleman (Shelly), of Friendsville, TN, Mark Grover Coleman (Pamela), of Blythewood, SC and Wanda Peake Cooke, of Lugoff, SC; grandchildren, David Coleman (Karen), Kelly Brown (Justin), JonMark Coleman (Sarah), Maria DeBlasio (Chris), Margaret Coleman, Ashley Coleman, Andrea Crotts (Andrew), Adderly Coleman (Kelsey), Adam Peake (Anna), Jessica Bowers (Jonathan), Erin Stephenson (Rob) and Anna Smith (Clay); 24 great-grandchildren, Christian Coleman, Angelina Coleman, Katelyn Coleman, Audrie Brown, McKenzie Brown, Keegan Brown, Charity Brown, Andrew Coleman, Micah Coleman, Desiree DeBlasio, Ava Crotts, Max Crotts, Henli Crotts, Reese Crotts, Finn Crotts, Bayleigh Coleman, Banks Coleman, Briar Coleman, Madilyn Bowers, Jackson Bowers, McRae Stephenson, Brewer Stephenson, Bennett Smith and Riley Smith. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Coleman was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew H. Coleman; and siblings, James Sloan, Thelma Wise, Lois Desso, Mary Kneece, Mattie Lee Jones, Charlie Sloan, Ruth Styles and Rado Cobb.
The funeral service for Mrs. Coleman will be held at 12 o’clock, Friday, July 10th, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia, with Pastor John Parker officiating. Burial will follow in Ebenezer Holiness Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the funeral home beginning at 11 o’clock.
Serving as pallbearers will be David Coleman, JonMark Coleman, Adam Peake, Adderly Coleman, Jonathan Bowers and Andrew Crotts.
