Severn Malcolm "Toot" Ray, Jr., 75, of Lexington, died Tuesday, May 29, 2012. Born in Columbia on August 15, 1936, he was a son of Severn Malcolm Ray, Sr., and Virginia Harmon Ray. Mr. Ray was a member of Eau Claire Baptist Church and was a lifetime member of the Earlewood Masonic Lodge # 371 for more than 50 years.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Teressa "Terry" Ray; daughters, Laura (Doug) Brooks of Lexington, Jenny Ray (Brett) McCall of Cross Anchor; sons, Chris (Bex) Ray of Pendleton, Jimmy Ray of Lexington, John Ray, Mike Ray and Mac Ray; grandchildren, Blythe Corley, Erin Corley, Alexander Goff, Christian Marsh, Colton Ray, Emily Goff, Savannah Ray; great-grandson, Kason Corley; brothers, Thomas (Nancy) Ray of Rock Hill, James (Suzanne) Ray of Montgomery, Texas; sisters, Mary Ann West of West Columbia, Virginia Oliver of Irmo; as well as his beloved family pets, Chester and Muffin.
The funeral service for Mr. Ray will be held at 1 o'clock Friday, June 1, 2012 at Eau Claire Baptist Church with The Rev. James Goudelock and The Rev. Kelly Strum officiating. Interment will follow in Southland Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
