Obituary

SFC Carol Edison Woodley, US Army (Ret.), 97, of Columbia, went to be with his heavenly Father on Monday, January 15, 2024. He was born to the late Arthur and Nancy Woodley in Creswell, NC on January 24, 1926. A loving and devoted husband to Ora. He was a long-time member of Long Creek Church of Christ. Mr. Woodley retired from the United States Army after 23 years of honorable service. During his career in the Army, he served during WWII, Korea and was stationed all over the world including Japan and various countries in Europe. Following his service in the Army, he started his own painting and remodeling business with a longtime friend and retired Air Force veteran. Later Mr. Woodley joined with his family to form their own remodeling company that serviced the state of SC. He was a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great - great grandfather. Above all, he was a devout Christian who loved his Lord beyond measure.

Survivors include his loving wife of 70 years, Ora Woodley; children, Lance Woodley (Alicia), Rance Woodley (Janice), Rick Woodley (Liz), and Conja Larck (Kelly); grandchildren, Summer Rice (Michael), Amanda Hernadez (Drew), Jennifer Woodley, Jason Woodley, Joshua Woodley (Shawna) Megan Burton (Brian), Adam Woodley, Nate Larck(Jennifer), Tyler Larck (Amber), 16 great grandchildren; a great great grandchild; and soon to add another great grandchild to arrive in August. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by 3 brothers and 5 sisters.

Mr. Woodley's visitation will be held on Sunday, January 21 from 4 until 6 o'clock at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia. The funeral service will be held Monday, January 22, at the Trenholm Road Chapel at 11 o'clock . Burial with military honors will be held at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, Columbia.
