SFC Steven James Mohar, US Army, (Ret.), 61, of Chapin, died Saturday, May 28, 2022. Born December 2, 1960, in Munich, Germany, he was a son of the late Vladamir James Mohar and Georgine Eichinger Mohar.
SFC Mohar honorably served his country as a Green Beret in the Special Forces for more than 20 years. During his enlistment, he received many commendations, including, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, as well as many more. Following his military retirement, he was employed as a technician for a Harley Davidson dealership in North Carolina. SFC Mohar was an avid sports fan and a lifelong Los Angeles Rams Football fanatic.
Survivors include his brother, Mike Mohar; nephew, Michael Suber; as well as a multitude of friends and extended family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Cynthia Mohar.
The Graveside service for SFC Mohar will be held at 1 o'clock, Tuesday, June 7th at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia, SC 29229. The family will receive friends prior to the graveside service from 11:30 until 12:30 o'clock at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia, SC 29223.
