SFC Filimon Padilla, US Army (Ret), 79, of Columbia, died Saturday, January 30, 2016. Born in San Jose, NM to the late Adolfo and Elauteria Aragon Padilla, he was married to Elfriede Padilla for 57 years. Filimon was retired from the US Army and served in the Vietnam conflict. One of his favorite enjoyments was rock and roll music.
Filimon is survived by his beloved wife; daughter, Helen Mills of Columbia; sons, David (Sherri) Padilla, of Cuba, MO, Johnney Padilla of Columbia; grandsons, John David Mills, of Charleston, SC and Christopher Padilla of Bremerhaven, Germany; granddaughter, Jenna Powers, of Cuba, MO; great-granddaughter, Vera Lynn Mills, of Charleston, SC; as well as four brothers and one sister, all of Denver, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; and ten brothers and half-brothers.
A graveside service with full military honors for Mr. Padilla will be held at 2 o'clock, Tuesday, February 2nd, at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Rd., Columbia. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
