It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved son, Shane Roberts McVey who stepped into eternity with Jesus on September 27, 2025, at the age of 19.
Born on March 18, 2006, in Spartanburg, SC, Shane was the cherished child of Greg and Conli McVey and a loving sibling to Ashley, Lexi and brother-in-law Brian. He was a bright light in the lives of his family and friends, remembered for his calm spirit, silly moments, love of people, his dry sense of humor, his computer savvy, and his favorite pastimes, gaming with friends and movies. Shane's faith in the Lord was strong, as was his ability to connect people and his loyalty to his long-time friends.
Shane graduated from Arrows Academy in 2024 and was pursuing a degree in Cyber Security/Criminal Justice with determination and hope for the future.
He will be deeply missed by his parents, Greg and Conli, his siblings, Ashley, Lexi and Brian, his grandparents Lynn McVey (paternal); Charles Schneider (maternal); his aunts and uncles, Sonny and Kim Comstock; Dusty and Tasha McVey (Sailor, Cyrus, Sparrow); Jon and Cami McBride (Claire & Luke, Ella); Derek and Channing Shipley (Zach & Maia, Riley, Avery); Billy and Collyn Gillispie (Addy, Ava, Alivia), other family; many wonderful friends; and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He was welcomed to heaven by his grandmother, Carolyn Schneider; his grandad Sam McVey, and his Savior, Jesus Christ.
A funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock on Saturday, October 4 at GraceLife Church, 501 Clemson Road Columbia, SC. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research in Shane's memory.
