She was the youngest of ten children and was lovingly known by family and friends as “midge” a nickname that stayed with her throughout her life.
In the late 60’s Sharon moved to Columbia to be closer to her sister Betty and Betty’s family. Family remained at the center of Sharon’s life, and the bonds she shared with those she loved were among her greatest treasures.
In June of 1980, Sharon married the love of her life, Wilford, and together they built a life grounded in faith and family.
Sharon dedicated more than 30 years of service to the children and families of Fort Jackson Child Development Center, where she worked faithfully until her retirement. Her caring nature and gentle spirit touched countless lives throughout her career.
A woman of deep faith, Sharon was a long time member of Victory Baptist Church and Bethel Baptist Church. One of her greatest joys was worshiping through music alongside her sister Betty. Together, they faithfully sang for many years, blessing congregations with their voices and their love for the lord.
Above all else, Sharon cherished her family. She adored her grandchildren and found immense joy whenever she could gather all her grandbabies together. Those moments filled her heart with happiness when they called her “memaw” and created memories that her family will hold dear forever.
Sharon will be remembered for her loving heart, her unwavering faith, her devotion to her family, and the kindness she extended to everyone she met. Though she will be dearly missed, her legacy of love, strength, and faith will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
