Mrs. Sherrill Spires Wofford, 82, of West Columbia, died Thursday, February 25, 2016. Born on June 27, 1933, in Joanna, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Ezra Thomas and Gertrude Mayfield Spires. Sherrill had a lively personality, and she spent many years working in retail sales. Sherrill was member of North Trenholm Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir. She enjoyed fishing, shopping and was always on the go!

Sherrill is survived by her sons, Randy Wofford (Theresa), and Josh Wofford (Amanda); daughters, Vicki Wofford, and Katherine Carter (Roger); grandchildren, Miranda, Ryan, Eric, Krista, Brittany, Matthew, Robyn, Jennifer, and James; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, James Spires; and sister, Mary Frances Martin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Lee Wofford; and brothers, William Barringer Spires and Robert Franklin Spires.

A service for Mrs. Wofford will be held at 2 o'clock, Sunday, February 28th, at Memorial Gardens of Columbia Mausoleum, 9301 Wilson Blvd., Columbia. The family will receive friends at the cemetery prior to the service, beginning at 1 o'clock. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be to the Animal Protection League, 6080 Old Leesburg Rd., Hopkins, SC 29061, or to the charity of one's choice.
