Obituary

Shonna Renée Noles Leidecker, 75, of Columbia, SC, formerly of Aubrey, TX, died on Saturday, December 17, 2022. Born in Grand Prairie, TX, on January 29, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Talmage Eugene Noles, Sr. and Eona Francille (Frances) Worley Noles.

Shonna was a "good girl," according to her mother, growing up alongside her built-in best friends, her cousins, Nancy, Beverly, Joyce, and Lynn, and her mischievous brother, Eugene. That mischievous Noles family gene did not leave her untouched. Although shy at first, she was full of quick quips and sarcasm for those who knew her. She never failed to see the humor and irony that filled our lives here on earth.
She became an entrepreneur, working alongside her parents in their beauty shop from the time she was twelve and later running her own chain of video stores and rental properties. She modeled hard work and dedication that has inspired much of the next two generations to become entrepreneurs themselves.

Her creativity was boundless, especially when her resources were not. She used her talents for sewing, for cooking, for gardening, for art and design, to make every home she lived in beautiful. She particularly loved Christmas and always went overboard to make it seem as though "Santa had a wreck" at our house.
Above all, she believed she was put on this earth to take care of children. With her beloved husband, Robert, she raised two kids of her own, Phaedra and Dirk, and with her mother, Frances, she raised her nephew, Winston from the time he was six. She cared for her seven grandchildren at the family farm in Texas and in South Carolina, playing endless card games, sharing her wisdom, and often just listening. Beyond all the children, she cared for her mother, father, and brother through their final days. She dedicated her whole life to the service of others, and she never missed an opportunity to let every one of them know how important, how capable, and how loved they were.

She is survived by all those children, of whom she was so proud — her daughter, Phaedra Leidecker Branham (Nathan); son, Christopher Dirk Leidecker; grandchildren, Mason Branham, Lauren Pansegrau, Reed Branham (Alexis), Cam Branham, Kade Leidecker (Dani), Brenna Elizabeth Leidecker, Savannah Leidecker; nephew, Winston Noles; nieces, Darby Heckel (Kurt) and Whitney Brooks; as well as great-nieces and nephews, beloved cousins and friends, and one very spoiled puppy, Lyla. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Augustus Leidecker, Jr.; and brother, Talmage Eugene Noles, Jr.

A service to celebrate her beautiful life will be held at 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia, SC, with the Rev. A service to celebrate her wonderful life will also be held at Valdasta Baptist Church, 7194 Old Valdasta Road, Blue Ridge Texas at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, December 22. Followed by graveside service and burial at Stoney Point Cemetery.
