Charles Caleb "Sonny" Easler, 83, of Elgin, died Friday, April 6, 2018. Born December 2, 1934, in Blythewood, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Caleb Jonas Easler and Mary Elizabeth Turner Easler.
Sonny was in the construction industry his entire life. From pushing wheelbarrows of concrete as a teenager, building Waffle Houses across the Southeast, to project superintendent in commercial construction. He was an avid deer and dove hunter. When not hunting you could often find him putting around on his tractor at Ashwood Plantation Hunt Club in Lee County, which he managed for the past 20-plus years. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, dancing and social events. He loved life, was loved by all and rarely met a stranger. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his children, Susan Easler of Elgin, David Easler (Amy) of Chapin; granddaughters, Danielle White (Jeff) of Lexington, Michelle Nock of Chapin; great-granddaughter, Nora Jean White of Lexington; special friend, Judy Rowe of Columbia; sisters, Ruth Branham, Dora Ann Awtrey (Gene), Shelby Moyers all of Columbia; brother, Kenneth "Pete" Easler (Harriet) of Columbia; and special cousin, Donald Lamoy of Rembert.
The funeral service for Mr. Easler will be held at 11:30 o'clock, Wednesday, April 11th, at International Praise, 5071 Percival Rd., Elgin, SC with Bishop Doyle Roberts officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 o'clock at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia, SC.
