Spence was born on October 25, 1959 and passed away August 15, 2017 after a two-year battle with cancer. "He fought a good fight"

Spence finished Columbia High School and attended USC, however he was a diehard fan of Clemson as well as NASCAR.

During his younger years he was a motocross rider. He loved fast cars and boats. Had many corvettes and during high school a van he called the party wagon.

Spence is survived by his parents, Georgia & Lindsey Cooper; his sisters, Cynthia Cooper Koehler and her husband, Kirk of Vero Beach, Florida and Kimberly Cooper Dotson of Columbia. Spence loved his nieces and nephews, Kerstyn Koehler Adcox and her husband, Neil, Kincaid Koehler, and twins, Leta Grace and Cooper Daniel Dotson; his special friends, Lee and Brenda Carrol, Robbie and Eunice Neeley, his cat, Que and dog, Smokey.

There will be no formal service but, at a later date, family and friends will gather on Lake Murray and scatter his ashes on the lake he loved. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
