SSG Hubert Austin Williams, US Army, (Ret.), 87, of Columbia, died Thursday, February 2, 2017. Born in Harlan, Kentucky, he was a son of the late Jasper and Minnie Williams and had 12 older siblings. A talented handy man and certified mechanic, Hubert was a fun-loving man who never met a stranger. He was known to make people laugh and one who loved his family, country, his dogs and the Clemson Tigers. SSG Williams retired from the US Army, having traveled the world with his wife of 63 years, Reiko Sasaki Williams.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Jay Williams (Maureen); and grandson, Ryan Williams.

A graveside service will be held 12 o'clock, Wednesday, February 8th at Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia, prior to the service, beginning at 10 o'clock.
