SSGT Arthur C. Roepke, USMC (Ret'd), 81, of Elgin, died Wednesday, November 6, 2013. Born in Annapolis, MD on April 15, 1932, he was a son of the late Arthur William Roepke and Etta Marguerite Wayson Roepke. First serving in the US Air Force for 4 years, he went on to serve 16 years in the US Marine Corps before his retirement.

Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Mildred Rhodes Roepke; sons, Neil (Gretchen) Roepke, and Kenneth (Venice) Roepke all of Columbia; grandchildren, Katie, Nikki, Steven, Jesse, and Shelby; great-grandchild, Steven, Jr.; sisters, Donna Crovella, and Alice Roepke; brother, Louis Roepke; special friends, Edward (Natalie) English of San Diego, CA.

A funeral service for Mr. Roepke will be held at 12:30 o'clock, Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at Shives Funeral Home, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia, with Chaplain William A. Robertson and The Rev. Jerry Rhodes officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 11:30. Interment will follow in Fort Jackson National Cemetery.
