Stephen Donald Smith, 64, of Columbia, died on Thursday, March 14, 2024. Born in Fort Benning, GA, on May 6, 1959, he was a son of Donald Eugene and Lyl Frances Adams Smith. Mr. Smith was employed as a machinist with Cooper Power Tools for several years and later Harsco.

Survivors include his brother, Mark Adams Smith (Laura Leigh); brothers and sisters-in-law, Harriett H. Begg (John), Susan B. Humphreys, Robert E. Humphreys, Jr. (Libby), and Edgar C. Humphreys (Michelle); nephew and nieces, Adams Clark Smith, Jay Begg, Liz Begg, Madline Humphreys and Bobby Humphreys; as well as great-nephews, Jacob Ervin and Jaxton McBride; as well as two faithful companions, Oliver and Precious. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Humphreys Smith; and an infant sister, Lori Lynn Smith.

A private graveside service for Mr. Smith will be held in the Churchyard of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
Friends may visit the family at the home of Mark Smith on Friday evening, March 22nd.
