Steven Brown, husband of Marshanna King Brown for almost 60 years, passed away May 2, 2025. Steve was affectionately known as "Brownie" to family and close friends.
Born in Bennettsville, he was a son of the late Mary Ruth Adams Brown and John Hubert Brown. Steve was a proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and a proud graduate of Dreher High School and Wofford College. He was a long-time member of Shandon United Methodist and the JOY Sunday School class.
In his early career, Steve was a banker, followed by a stint with the SC Student Loan Corporation. Later, he became an exemplary home renovator, builder, and creator of an apartment complex that he and Marshanna managed for decades. Examples of his volunteer work included leading a church basketball league and serving as President of the Arcadia Lakes Homeowner's Association.
In addition to his wife, survivors include sons, Michael Allen Brown (Trezevant) from Columbia and Graham Lindley Brown (Tamitha) from Newberry; brother, David Brown (Susan) from Charlotte; grandchildren, Elise, Clara, and Hugh Brown; niece and nephew, Kimbrough Brown Winfree (Chris) and Dave Brown (Chaney). He was pre-deceased by sister-in-law, Carol Kimbrough Brown.
A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, May 17, 2025, at 12 o'clock in the sanctuary of Shandon United Methodist Church. His Sunday School class will serve as honorary pallbearers. Inurnment and a reception will follow at the church.
