Stuart Arthur Broome, 67, of Blythewood, died on Saturday, December 26, 2020. Born in Columbia, SC, on February 14, 1953, he was a son of Polly Dowey Broome and the late Phillip Cooke Broome, III.
Stuart was a graduate of Columbia High School and the University of South Carolina with a bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism. He worked in Media Services for SCDSSN Midlands Center and later at Palmetto Health Richland. Stuart was a Christian and enjoyed bluegrass, rock 'n roll, and southern gospel music. He enjoyed composing songs, playing guitar with friends, and studying literature and cinema. Stuart was a life-long fan of Clemson Tigers football.
Survivors include his sons, Daniel Broome and Stephen Broome (Jessie); his mother, Polly Dowey Broome; his brother Philip Cooke Broome, IV (Cynthia); and his niece Rachel Fights (Kenny Fights) and their son Jacob. He was predeceased by his father Philip Cooke Broome, III.
The private graveside service for Mr. Broome will be held at Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
