Sue Brown Woodard, 92, of Columbia, died on Friday, August 26, 2022. Born in Taylorsville, NC, on June 9, 1930, she was a daughter of the late William Clarence Brown and Rena Matlock Brown. Mrs. Woodard served in the US Army during the Korean war and was a graduate of the University of South Carolina where she earned her master's in public health. She was a registered nurse and worked in public health for many years. Her passion was serving Hospice patients and their families. A dedicated Christian woman, she enjoyed serving others and being a member at Windsor United Methodist Church. She was an avid reader and Gardner and friend to all. She was greatly loved by her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Jimmy C. Woodard (Jane), of Poquoson, VA, Debra W. Lybrand (Douglas), of Elgin, SC; John B. Woodard (Donna), of Columbia; grandchildren, Steve Branham, Svea Bartlett, William Woodard, George Woodard, Sarah Bowman; three great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Brown, Joyce Brown; and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, SFC John Martin Woodard; daughter, Dawn Woodard; and four brothers.

The funeral service for Mrs. Woodard will be held at 3 o'clock, Tuesday, August 30th, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia. Pastor Leatha Brown will officiate. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the funeral home beginning at 2 o'clock.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Windsor United Methodist Church, 9500 Windsor Lake Blvd., Columbia, SC 29223; or to the charity of one's choice.
