Susan Hale, 72, of Hopkins, SC, died on Saturday, December 20, 2025. Born on January 9, 1953, in Asheville, North Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Harold Lloyd Hargus and Barbara Ann McElreath Hargus.
Susan Hale accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at the age of eight and lived a life that reflected God's love and grace to everyone who knew her. She shared the love of Jesus through her kindness, thoughtfulness, and care for others. She met the love of her life, Mike Hale, at the age of 16. They were married at age 18 on August 20, 1971, and built a beautiful Christ centered marriage that lasted 54 years. Susan chose her family above all and gave up her career to be a stay-at-home mom until her son was in high school. She began working for the University of South Carolina School of Medicine billing department, but once again gave up her career. She devoted herself as a caregiver for her mother, Barbara, and mother-in-law, Wanda. Susan handled all of this during multiple deployments by her husband. She leaves a legacy of strength, selfless love, and faithful service that touched all who knew her. The most important legacy she leaves is a love of God and endless faith that now live on with grandsons Eli and Asher, the "light of her life".
