Sue Hadley, 87, of Columbia, passed away on Monday, August 21, 2023, following a lengthy struggle with dementia. She was born on February 25, 1936, in Wooster, Ohio, to Joe and Blanche Halderman.
Survivors include her husband, Ed; children, Valerie Reed (Mike), Todd Hadley (Karon), and Nathan Hadley (Aynsley). She is also survived by a brother, Dr. John Halderman of Oregon. Sue had nine grandchildren and five living great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two great grandchildren, Dobbs and Reed Eddings.
She attended Miami University and graduated from Meredith College in 1960. Sue was a member of Kilbourne Park Baptist Church for over 50 years, where she taught many Sunday school classes. She was also active in women's missionary work.
Sue was an accomplished artist, and enjoyed cooking, reading, and gardening. She worked at Forest Lake Elementary School for 11 years.
The funeral service for Mrs. Hadley will be held at 11 o'clock Friday, August 25th at Kilbourne Park Baptist Church, 4205 Kilbourne Rd, Columbia, SC with Rev. Terry Smoak officiating. The family will visit with friends following the service in the church foyer.
The burial will be held privately at Greenlawn Memorial Park Serenity Gardens. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
