Obituary

Sylvia Joan Blackwell Flowers Hooppaugh, 70, of Columbia, died Sunday, May 4, 2014. Born in Richland County on November 1, 1943, she was a daughter of the late Stancil C. Blackwell and Verna B. Meetze Blackwell. Sylvia was a member of Columbia First 7th Day Adventist Church in Lexington and worked for many years with the BI-LO Corporation.

Survivors include her sons, David Flowers and Ronnie Flowers both of West Columbia; a brother, Billy Blackwell of Spartanburg; grandchildren, Ronnie and David Jacobs, Matthew Flowers, Robbie and Chris Mitchell. In addition to her parents, Sylvia was preceded in death by a sister, Peggy Fry; and a brother, Charles Blackwell.

A funeral service for Mrs. Hooppaugh will be held at 3 o'clock, Thursday, May 8th at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia, with Pastor Andres Sequera officiating. Interment will follow in Old Macedonia Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o'clock, Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Columbia First 7th Day Adventist Church, 243 Riverchase Way, Lexington, SC 29073.
