Thomas Lionel Howell, Sr., 65, of Prosperity, died Wednesday, September 4, 2013. Born in Columbia, July 29, 1948, he was the son of the late Samuel "Curley" and Hazel Banks Howell. Tommy was a member of the Shandon Masonic Lodge #370 and the Jamil Temple. He had worked with Carolina Fire & Safety.

Survivors include his wife, Desiree Rimer; sons, Lionel (Kim) Howell of Cartersville, GA and Lesley Howell of Blythewood; step-daughter, Lorraine Bilka of Columbia; grandchildren, Nicholas, Carter, Claire, Lillie and Makenzi Howell, Jacki (Jacob) Gillen and Jayden Morgan Bilka; great grandson, Austin; and numerous cousins.

The funeral service for Mr. Howell will be held 11 o'clock, Monday, September 9th, at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, 5202 Colonial Dr, Columbia, with The Rev. Dr. Robert Winburn officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery with Masonic Rites. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 4 until 6 o'clock at the funeral home.
