Thomas David Jones, 70, of Columbia, died on Tuesday, January 19, 2021. Born in Charlotte, NC on August 2, 1950, he was the son of Nancy Pillsbury Lipton and step-son of Joseph J Lipton. In addition to his mother and step-father, David is survived by his wife, Katherine Brumbach Jones; sons, Paul Jones and David Sanders (Julie); sisters, Victoria Navarro and Julie Wall (Maxwell); step-sister, Dale Jones and mother-in-law, Yvonne Brumbach. David is predeceased by his father, Thomas Carl Jones, Jr. and his father-in-law, William C. Brumbach. In addition, David leaves many loving family members and friends.

David enjoyed traveling the world, sailing and fishing, in addition to artifact hunting. He was exceptionally creative, writing and playing his guitar daily. But his love for his family, surpassed anything else he enjoyed in life. David was the owner of Discount Mattress Sales and retired in 2012. After retirement, he continued with his love of music and writing.

The family will celebrate David's life by scattering his ashes in a number of places he loved. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
