Thomas (Tommy) Eugene Lightfoot, Jr. of Columbia, SC, died March 17, 2021 with his family by his side.
Tommy was born September 12, 1952 in Norfolk, Virginia to Thomas Eugene Sr. and Ruby Leigh Jarvis, who both preceded him in death. Tommy was a man of knowledge. He never ceased being a student, although he was regarded as a teacher by so many. He even went back to school later in life at Midlands Tech to earn a degree. He was an avid reader, a lover of music, a Braves' fan and devoted to the study of metaphysics, philosophy and world religions. His enduring charm left an indelible mark on all he encountered and his generous spirit inspired so many to follow their own path to self awareness. His greatest passion and most beloved roll in life was that of father. His love for his children was immeasurable and unsurpassed by any other pursuit or purpose in his life.
Tommy is survived by his daughters, Cameron Leigh Lightfoot and Veda Cheyenne Lightfoot; and sisters, Maryann Cornwall, Bobbie Harris, Teresa Jarvis, Carolyn Jarvis, Elizabeth Duncan; and brothers, Stephen Jarvis, William (Bill) Volk, and Mike Tatum. Mr. Lightfoot was preceded in death by his son, Dylan Thomas Lightfoot; his sister, Sandy Lightfoot; his stepmother, Mildred Lightfoot. He was a devoted grandfather to Cameron's daughters, Kaya Joan Elizabeth Waage and Eleanor Kathrine Shough and to Dylan's daughter, Braylee Nicole Hagins. Tommy also leaves behind Caleb Brown, Noah Ray and Carter Allen; all young men he loved and mentored like sons.
