Tommy grew up in Andrews, SC, which he affectionately referred to as Small Town USA. He had many fond memories of childhood and high school days playing football and baseball, going on skiing trips and camping excursions and he remained close to his friends from that time in his life. He preferred being outside to inside regardless of the weather. Tommy enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, grilling and experimenting with different cooking techniques, Nascar racing and all things Clemson. His career in the fire safety business spanned over a period of 45 years and he remained close friends with many of his previous co-workers. Most recently he enjoyed working for International Fire Protection and was fortunate to have the most wonderful team of coworkers and managers. He was so very proud to still be able to compete professionally, meet his annual goals and receive awards for his accomplishments. Above all, Tommy loved his family and friends passionately; if you were one of his people, there was never any doubt about it. Spending time at home with his family was his absolute favorite place to be, and if Caleb wanted to golf or fish, Tommy was always "All In." He was the kind of guy who would drop everything to lend a helping hand. Tommy loved serving on the 4th Sunday Greet Team at Village Church and cherished the fellowship of his Sunday evening small group. Most importantly, he loved the Lord and wanted everyone to know Jesus. Throughout his recent illness, his constant message to everyone he encountered was to simply treat others the way you want to be treated. He was shining a light for Jesus up until the last minutes here on earth. There is no doubt that he is with his savior and we will see him again one day when we all get to Heaven.
