Thomas Andrew "Andy" Rose, Sr., of Columbia, died Friday, January 1, 2016, on his 66th birthday. Born in Columbia, SC, he was a son of the late Charlie Marshall Rose and Cleola Hall Rose. Andy was VP/General Manager of Palmetto Metal Products, where he had worked for more than 40 years. He was currently a member of First Baptist Church of Columbia. For many years he had been a member of Sandy Level Baptist Church in Blythewood, where he served as a Deacon. During his illness, Andy shared his faith with every person with whom he made contact.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Diane Wooten Rose; son, Thomas Andrew Rose, Jr.; daughter, Angela Victoria Rose Cribb; son-in-law, Donald Scott Cribb; grandchildren, Abby, Emma, Draven, Haley, and Autumn; sister, Billie Jackson; as well as a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Andy was preceded in death by brothers, Charles Marshall Rose, Jr. and Jerry Wayne Rose; and his sister, Judith Rose Butler.
The funeral service for Mr. Rose will be held 1 o'clock, Wednesday, January 6th at First Baptist Church, 1306 Hampton St, Columbia, with The Rev. Richard A. Humphries, The Rev. Dennis Banks, and The Rev. Dr. E. Benjamin Newman, Jr., officiating. Mr. Rose will be placed in the church at noon for those attending to pay their respects. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens of Columbia. Andy's co-workers are invited to serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock, Tuesday evening, at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia.
