Thomas C. Savage, 85, passed away on July 15, 2018. He was born in Newport News, Virginia, on February 20, 1933 to the late Garnet C. Queensberry and Harry A. Savage. Tom earned a B.A. from the University of Richmond, a divinity degree from Wake Forest Baptist Theological Seminary, and a M.A. in Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His career focused on child care social work, including many years with Epworth Methodist Children's Home in Columbia. Tom loved playing the clarinet, had a keen interest in early aviation history, and became a ballroom dancing enthusiast. He was a long-time member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Columbia.
Tom is survived by his loving wife, Joan, of 57 years, two children, Deborah (Tim) and David (Stephanie), and four grandchildren, Jacob, Leah, Mari, and Noah, and a sister-in-law, Susan.
The service for Tom will be held at 1:30 o'clock, Thursday, July 19th, at the Chapel of the Holy Spirit at Still Hopes, One Still Hopes Drive, West Columbia, SC. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family. A reception will be held prior to the service beginning at 12:30 o'clock.
