Thurman Eugene Medlin Sr., 72, of Elgin, died Thursday, December 21, 2023. He was born to the late Walter E. and Gladys Medlin on March 16, 1951 in Columbia, SC.

Thurman worked his entire life as an automotive mechanic. He worked for various shops and car dealerships throughout his life. He was known as a hard worker. Anyone who worked for or with him would tell you that keeping up with him was a tall order. He expected you to work as hard and as long as he did. He could be found on his property working on something when he was home and would work from before sunup until after sundown. His family will remember him for his work ethic and how much he loved his family, especially his grand babies.

Thurman is survived by his loving wife, Carlene Medlin; children, Shane (Maria) Medlin, Tonya (Guy) Hewitt, Thurman Medlin (Erin) Jr., and Karen Medlin; his 10 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Melissa Lee; his brother; and his sister.
