Obituary

Mr. Tobie Melvin Drucker, 81, of Columbia, died Friday, March 29, 2024. He was born to the late Morris and Ida Belle Drucker in Denmark, SC on December 20, 1942.

Tobie was a dedicated member of Beth Shalom Synagogue for 54 years. He loved his synagogue and his community dearly. He graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1975 and remained a loyal Gamecock fan throughout his life. He met the love of his life, Sarah Drucker, and was a faithful husband to her for 54 years. He previously served as the State President of B'nai B'rith, and enjoyed organizational activities including bowling and conventions. He owned and operated American Shoefair on Assembly St. and Sunshine Family Clothing from 1987 until 2007 where he loved helping and building relationships with his customers. He loved his family and cherished the time he spent with them.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sarah Drucker; daughters, Robin Lourie (Neal), Katie Freedman (Lee), and Leslie Drucker; grandchildren, Hayden Drucker, Izzy Lourie, Duncan Lourie, Henry Freedman, and Caroline Freedman; siblings, Meyer Drucker (Barbara), Jan Samet (Sylvia), and Meyer Samet (Christine); and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Charles Drucker; and siblings, Fay Grabin, Ted Drucker, and Herb Drucker.

The family would like to give special thanks to the caregivers at Rice Estates and Lutheran Hospice Care for their compassionate care.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, Grand Central Station P.O. Box 4777, New York, NY 10163.

The graveside service for Mr. Tobie Drucker will be held Monday, April 1, 2024 at 11 o'clock at Beth Shalom Arcadia Lakes Cemetery,1401 Arcadia Lakes Drive, Columbia, SC. A bereavement meal will be provided following the service at Beth Shalom Synagogue, 5827 North Trenholm Road, Columbia, SC.Shiva services will be held on Monday, April 1, at 1 o'clock; Tuesday, April 2 and Wednesday, April 3, at 6 o'clock. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
