Obituary

TSgt Franklin D. Easler, US Air Force (Ret.), 87, of Ridgeway, died Wednesday, June 19, 2024. Born September 2, 1936, in Columbia, he was a son of the late Lewis W. Easler and Addie Bell Grimsley Easler.

TSgt Easler honorably served his country for more than 22 years in the United States Air Force from1954-1976. During his enlistment during the Vietnam War he received many commendations for his meritorious service. TSgt Easler had the unique opportunity to live in many locations, including, Germany, Idaho, and South Carolina. One of his favorite pastimes in the Air Force was participating in their fast pitch softball league. Following his military career, he was self employed as a cabinet maker and master carpenter. He was an avid outdoorsman who especially enjoyed bird hunting. TSgt Easler also loved Clemson Tigers Athletics, NASCAR, but most importantly, spending every moment he could with his family.

Survivors include his devoted wife of 66 years, Celia E. Easler; children, Tammy Renee Sjodin (Rock) of Ridgeway, Teena Louise Easler of Asheville, NC, Delano Terrence Easler (Debra Lyn) of Ridgeway; grandchildren, Addy Wendt Sjodin of Asheville, NC and Nelse Parker Sjodin (Sable) of Chapin; as well as his first expected great grandson, Lincoln McCoy Sjodin. He also leaves behind his sister, Lillian Derby of Columbia. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 10 siblings.

A private graveside service with full military honors will be held at Fort Jackson National Cemetery.
