Urias "Kie" Phipps, 97, of Columbia, died on Friday, October 7, 2022. Born in Loris, SC, on February 13, 1925, he was a son of the late Ulric Doc and Bessie Ray Phipps. Mr. Phipps served his country in the United States Army and Air Force during WWII. He was a lifelong member of Bayboro Baptist Church and member of St. Andrews Baptist Church. Additionally, he was a mason, avid Clemson Tiger fan, gardener and enjoyed traveling with his family. Mr. Phipps loved his family deeply and people in general.

Survivors include his daughter, Teresa Gayle Phipps; sister, Tina Godfrey (Wayne); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy "Dot" Williams Phipps; and siblings, Juanita Royal, Bud Phipps, Aubrey Phipps and Bruce Elliott.

The funeral service for Mr. Phipps will be held at 11 o'clock, Wednesday, October 12th, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia. Visitation will be held prior to the service at the funeral home beginning at 10 o'clock. A graveside service and burial will follow at 3 o'clock, in Bayboro Baptist Church Cemetery, Aynor, SC.
