Vennie Cleo Brewer Stanley, 94, of Columbia, died Friday, August 20, 2021. Born February 11, 1927, in Columbia, she was a daughter of the late Bennie Badger and Leila Mae Dawkins Brewer.

Mrs. Stanley was a devout Christian woman of deep faith. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and enjoyed studying the bible. Prior to her declining health, Mrs. Stanley was very active in several women's groups at her church. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and gardening. Mrs. Stanley was an advocate for animals, especially cats.
Survivors include her children, Jack Ray Stanley, Jr. (Jennifer) of St. Matthews, SC, Jackie Davis (Jim) of Rock Hill, SC, and Judith Stanley of Columbia; grandchildren, Michael Matthews (Holly), Mark Matthews (Carol), Abby Parks, McKenna Parks, Sarah Stanley, and Summer Stanley; as well as her great grandchildren, Sarah Kathryn Matthews, Ben Matthews, Caroline Matthews, Jack Matthews, Kirsten Matthews, and Kayla Matthews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Ray Stanley, Sr. and sisters, Frances Moore and Margaret Medlin.

The graveside service for Mrs. Stanley will be held at 2 o'clock Tuesday, August 24th at Elmwood Cemetery, 501 Elmwood Ave, Columbia, SC 29201. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
