Vera Mae McDaniel Chrismon, 92, of Greenville, died Saturday, October 14, 2017. Born in Rockingham County, North Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Doc Olson McDaniel and Lottie Mae Cox McDaniel and was married to the late James Edmund Chrismon for 64 years. She was a wonderful wife and loving mother. Taking up golf in her forties, she won numerous amateur tournaments. She was President of the Furman Ladies Golf Association and was often paired with rated professional golfers on their visits to Furman. A member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, she also served for 15 years as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels.

Survivors include her daughter, Susan C. Cooke (Jerry), Columbia, SC; son, Robert O. Chrismon (Dana), Hickory, NC; grandchildren, Andrew T. Cooke (Saemi), Tyler, TX; J. Austin Chrismon (Heidi), Hickory, NC; Auburn N. Chrismon (Michael Chapman - engaged), Phoenix, MD; David C. Cooke (Anna), Greenville, SC; great-grandchildren, J. Wyatt Chrismon, Ayden M. Chrismon, and Peter E. Cooke.

A service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, October 21st, in the chapel of Aldersgate UMC in Greenville, SC with The Rev. Alex Stevenson officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 PM. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, Columbia, is assisting the family.
