Vera Ingram Cooper, 81, of Columbia, died Wednesday, October 9, 2019. Born in Caroleen, NC, on May 7, 1938, she was the daughter of Griff Ingram and Ethel Clontz Ingram.
She was affectionately known by her grandchildren as "Nina", was a loving mother. Her granddaughters were her heart. Well in to her 70' she could be found playing hide-and-go-seek with them and could usually be found under the bed. Vera was a faithful servant and disciple of her church, Capital City Baptist, where she had been a member for more than 30 years. She was like a mother to all who knew her.
Survivors include her son, Bucky (Lori) Cooper; grandchildren, Jordyn and Jadyn. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husband, James E. Cooper, Sr.
The funeral service for Mrs. Cooper will be held 2 o'clock, Saturday, October 12, 2019 at Capital City Baptist Church, 2243 Percival Road, Columbia, SC, with Pastor Paul Monroe officiating. Burial will follow in Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens following the service. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service beginning at 1 o'clock. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
