Vernedette Beck, 66, of Lutcher, Louisiana, crossed over into eternal life on February 19, 2019. "Bumsey", as she was so affectionately known by family and friends, was born on November 24, 1952, to Annie Bell Jackson Shepherd and Carty Blue.

In 1975 Bumsey joined the United States Armed Forces, where she spent two years in active duty before being honorably discharged.

Survivors include her only son Alan J. Beck, III, and his wife, Lisa Marie Beck, along with her three grandchildren, Trevion Avery Beck(18), Dejah Marie Beck(17) and Jevauhn Alan Beck(16). Bumsy also leaves to mourn her sisters, Geneva Pittman of Baton Rouge, LA, Cheryl Blue of Lutcher, LA, Sylvia Blue of Virginia Beach, VA, and Avis Shepherd of Laplace, LA; brothers, Nathaniel Blue and Norman Shepherd of Lutcher, LA; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by her step-father Melkayer Shepherd.
