Vicki Worth Drake, 78, of Columbia, died on Sunday, August 7, 2022. Born in Columbia, SC, on January 31, 1944, she was a daughter of the late James and Lester Taylor Worth. She graduated from Flora High School and was married in 1968. Following her marriage, she worked with her husband as owners of the Duck-In restaurant on Main Street for several years until it was sold. She then served as Vice President and treasurer of their real estate company, Drake Development Company that for over 40 years primarily developed more than 20 oceanfront condominium developments along the coast of South Carolina, North Carolina and Florida. Vicki was an active and very faithful member of First Baptist Church for more than 45 years along with her husband (Bucky), who credits her for being a wonderful Christian example for the family and many others. She was a dedicated mother and grandmother as well as an exemplary example and mentor for her family and many others. Her family unanimously agreed with the statement from her daughter, Ashley, that she could not have been a better mother; she was so full of love, kindness and class, a godly woman that was so beautiful inside and out.

She fought breast cancer for over 30 years and spent time at MD Anderson following her third diagnosis. While at MD Anderson, she received wonderful care during surgery and radiation treatments. She underwent surgery in December of 2021 to remove damage from prior radiation treatments. Following this surgery, she continued her desire to stay strong and trust in the Lord even after multiple hospital stays and falls.

Vicki spent a great deal of time consoling other cancer patients, and she made several trips to Houston with a friend that was a seriously ill cancer patient . Even though she is in a much better place now and not suffering the way she did for so long, she will be sorely missed by her family and many friends. Her family would like to express their extreme gratitude for the care she received from her doctors and nurses at Richland Heart Hospital, Baptist Hospital, MD Anderson in Houston and Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville.

Survivors include her husband, William Russell (Bucky) Drake; daughter, Ashley Drake Huff; son, Worth Drake (Erinn); grandchildren, William Drake, Caleb Drake, Andrew Drake, Isaiah Drake, John Drake, Austin Huff and Jacob Huff; as well as by cousins, Jane Boyd, Suzy Pathel and Ricky Cambell. She was preceded in death by her parents.

The funeral service for Mrs. Drake will be held at 11 o'clock, Friday, August 12th, at First Baptist Church of Columbia, 1306 Hampton Street, Columbia. The Rev. Wes Church, The Rev. Dr. Wendell Estep and the Rev. Dr. Charles B. Jackson will officiate. A private burial will be held in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends following the service in Ellis Hall of the Church. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
