Vincent Angelo Covino, 76, of Columbia, died on Wednesday, August 26, 2026. Mr. Covino was born on August 21, 1950, in Edison, New Jersey, to Joseph Anthony Covino and Catherine Mazzrella Covino.
Mr. Covino was a veteran who honorably served his country in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. Prior to his retirement, he was a well-known and established hairdresser for many years. His expertise in salon design was utilized by new salons throughout the United States. Mr. Covino was a gifted musician, singer, and songwriter. He even coined the term, “Rockspel”, which referred to gospel music played to a Rock’n’roll beat. He was a devout Christian that loved leading ministries and spreading the Gospel of God.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Covino; two special nephews, Joseph Covino, Jr. of New Jersey and Christopher Covino of Wisconsin, as well as numerous other family and friends.
The service to celebrate Mr. Covino’s life will be held from 4 until 7 o’clock, Monday, September 14th at the Gregg Park Clubhouse, 71 Gregg Pkwy, Columbia, SC 29206.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations be made to Mr. Covino’s celebration of life fund, 2452 Green Viper Loop, Blythewood, SC 29016.
