Viola Tucker Jones, 92, widow of Jack Jones, died Wednesday, September 19, 2012. Born September 26, 1919 in Columbia, SC, she was a daughter of the late Robert V. and Hester Brown Tucker.

A former member of The Eastern Star, Mrs. Jones retired from Columbia Products after 33 years of service. She was a volunteer at Providence Hospital for over 10 years and was an active member of Killian Baptist Church for more than 50 years.

Survivors include her daughter, Linda Jones (Kraig) Simmons of Columbia; a son, Gene Jones of Columbia; grandchildren, Jennifer Jones (Tony) Corley, Doug Jones, Marcie Watts (Gary) Barfield, Bill (Heather) Watts, Alyson Jones Wells, Ann Watts Shaner; and sister-in-law, Essie Richardson Tucker. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her son, Willard Jones; daughter, Barbara Ann Senn; granddaughter, Michelle Jones Groene; siblings, Claude Tucker, Bernice Sessions Medlin, Elise Tucker McNair, Evelyn Tucker Richardson.

A funeral service for Mrs. Jones will be held at 2 o'clock, Saturday, September 22nd, at Killian Baptist Church, 577 W. Killian Road, Columbia with The Rev. Richard A. Humphries and The Rev. David Waganer officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Bryan Eisler, Wilbur Wise, Jack Kruger, Paul Scarboro, Dewayne Styles and Chris Smyrl. Members of the Golden Rule Sunday School Class, Carl McRoy, Dan Pierce, Eugene Reynolds, Butch Richardson, Larry Tucker, Otis Sessions, Jimmy Koon, and Danny McNair are invited to serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock, Friday evening at Shives Funeral Home, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia, and at other times at the home of her son, 915 N. Brickyard Rd, Columbia.
