Mrs. Viola Berry Shepherd, 72, of Blythewood, died Saturday, January 11, 2014. Born June 30, 1941, in Columbia, SC, she was a daughter of the late Arthur Holley Berry and Elizabeth Howard Berry.

Viola was a very caring and loving person. She always had an "open door" and was a caregiver throughout her life.
She is survived by her children, the "Shep's Six Pack", daughters, Mary and her husband, Larry Stafford, Cheryl Shepherd, Shirley Shepherd, Holley and her husband, Phillip Gable, Patricia Brewster and her significant other, Doug; and son, Steve and his wife, Susan Shepherd; sister, Katherine Braziel; thirteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David S. Shepherd, Sr.; brother, Robert Berry; and sister, Mary Alice Berry.

A memorial service for Mrs. Viola Berry Shepherd will be held 1 o���clock, Wednesday, January 15th, at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, 5202 Colonial Dr., Columbia. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 7020 AC Skinner Pkwy, Ste 100, Jacksonville, FL, 32256.
