Obituary

Virginia (Jenny) Chandler Corley, age 94, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, July 27, 2021. Born in Chester County, South Carolina on November 3, 1926, Jenny was the daughter of the late James D. and Corrine B. Keller.

A devout Christian, she spent many years in the Pre-School Sunday School Department at Park Street Baptist Church.

Jenny and Mrs. Jack Reed (Margaret) co-founded the Kindergarten and Day Care ministry at Park Street Baptist Church.

Jenny was employed by the Department of the American Legion, later at the S. C. Department of Veterans Affairs and retired after a long and distinguished career with the Department of Mental Health, William S. Hall Institute.

She was active for many years in the Pine Garden Club, the Kings Daughters, and the Outreach Ministry of the Agape Sunday School Class of Riverland Hills Baptist Church.

Visitation will be held at 10 o'clock, followed by a Celebration of Life at 11 o'clock, both at Riverland Hills Baptist Church, 201 Lake Murray Boulevard, Irmo on Friday, July 30th. A private burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. The Rev. Wayne Cole will officiate. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.

Jenny was pre-deceased by her husband of 56 years, Thomas (Tom) S. Chandler; second husband, Dr. Haskell (Hap) Corley; oldest daughter, Karen C. Bolding; her sister, Nan K. Derrick Hamilton; and brothers, Davis Keller, Donald Keller, and Pete Keller.

She is survived by two daughters, Sheryl Chandler Todd (Jerry) of Columbia and Teri Chandler Buonasera (Howard) of Isle of Palms; son-in-law, William (Bill) H. Bolding, Jr. of Gilbert; four grandchildren, Bradford Bolding of Gilbert, Ben Bolding (Kathy) of Gilbert, Kara Bolding Stevens (Mike) of Lexington, and Chandler Todd, M.D. (Sara) of Charleston. She is survived as well by 6 beautiful great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Jenny is also survived by three stepdaughters, Vicki Corley, of Paris, France; Elizabeth Bryant (George) of Columbia and Mary Meyer (Howard) of Virginia; 7 step-grandchildren; and 7 step- great-grandchildren.

Her family is so grateful for all her loving caregivers over the last 8 years and for the special care provided by Lighthouse Hospice Group during the last few months. The faithful extended family and friends who cheered her with their frequent cards, calls, and visits cannot be thanked enough. Her family wants to send extra love and thanks to Pat Watson, Pam Blakely and Beverly Dickson for their constant love, friendship, gifts, and visits which brought her such joy!
