Virginia Holland, 84, of Columbia, died April 1, 2023. Born November 7, 1938 in Newnan, GA, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Abner Moody and Virginia Arnall Moody.

Virginia graduated Newnan High School in 1956, having been voted "Wittiest" by her classmates. She went on to attend Wesleyan College in Macon, GA and later the University of Georgia where she studied Elementary Education and was a member of Chi Omega Sorority. While teaching school in Atlanta, GA she met and married Warren Frederick Holland, Jr., of Columbia, SC. They lived in Ramstein, Germany and Durham, NC before settling in Columbia to raise their family. Virginia was involved in a number of community organizations throughout the years. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral where she enjoyed volunteering in the Soup Kitchen with dear friends. She is remembered by her loved ones as an avid gardener, an excellent cook, and a real hoot.

In addition to her husband, Dr. Warren Frederick Holland, Jr., Virginia is survived by her three children Warren Holland (Ellen) of Charlotte, NC; Elizabeth Ochsner of Boulder, CO; and Ginny Holland (John) of Atlantic Beach, FL; six beloved grandchildren; and her brother, John Walker Moody. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents and her son-in-law, Geoffrey Ochsner.

The service for Mrs. Holland will be held at 3 o'clock, Wednesday, April 5th at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Columbia, SC. A reception will follow the service in Satterlee Hall. Burial in Elmwood Cemetery will be private. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Trinity Cathedral, 1100 Sumter St., Columbia, SC, where donations will be directed to the Soup Kitchen.
