Virginia Linenbroker Kinney, 89, of Columbia, SC, died Friday, December 29, 2017. Born in St. Louis, Missouri, on November 7, 1928, she was a daughter of the late August H. Linenbroker and Esther Caroline Wehmeyer Linenbroker. Virginia volunteered for thousands of hours at the Baptist Hospital and supported the Animal Protection League and USC Gamecocks for many years. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and a board member of the Stingray Boat Company.

Survivors include her three daughters, Judy Lynn Kinney, Joyce Kinney English (Terry), and Janet Kinney Dear; one granddaughter, Erin Ashlee English. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Gin Linenbroker and Frances Berry; nieces and nephews in Sumter, SC and Missouri. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, W. Jerry Kinney; and her brother, Augie Linenbroker. A special thank you is extended to Joan Holas, for her loving care and to Karin Stokes, a beloved neighbor.

Visitation will be held from 4 until 6 o'clock, Monday, January 1st, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia. The funeral service for Mrs. Kinney will be held 12:30 o'clock, Tuesday, January 2nd, at the funeral home. A private burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Boyd Hendrix, Raymond Hendrix, Jonathan Morgan, Walter Robertson, Fred Stuart and David Watkins. Memorials may be made to Animal Protection League, P.O.
