Virginia Dent Waters, 74, of Evans, GA died Wednesday, June 28, 2017. Raised in Columbia, she was a daughter of the late Ernest Everett Dent and Katherine Puerfoy Dent. Virginia grew up as a member of College Place United Methodist Church. She was a loving mother and grandmother with a great wit. An animal lover, who adored her cats, Max and Willie, she also enjoyed painting, drawing, and writing poetry. Virginia was a fantastic artist, who wrote a children's book, Bubba Bee.

Survivors include her daughter, Amber Sobieraj (Damien); grandson, Andreas; sister, Sue Dent Kruse (Steven); and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Maj. Joseph Michael Waters.

A graveside service will be held 2:30 o'clock, Monday, July 3rd at the Dent Family Cemetery, 5225 Fairfield Road, Columbia. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 until 2 o'clock at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia.
