W. Glenn "Bud" Hood, Jr, 88, of Blythewood, died Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at his home. Born September 24, 1926 in Blythewood, he was a son of the late Werner Glenn Hood, Sr. and Leila Watts Hood. He was a charter member of Lake Wateree Baptist Church where he sang in the choir. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Gelnn was a lifetime member of the Lake Wateree VFW Post 8346.
Survivors include his wife, Gale Broom Hood; a son, Kenneth A. Hood of Columbia; step-son, David Williams of Lugoff; daughter, Joan Paschal of Columbia; step-daughter, Sherry Dinkins of Ridgeway; granddaughter, Kayla Paschal; step-grandchildren, Samantha Dinkins, William Dinkins, Christopher Williams, Chance Williams, Dawson Williams, great-grandson, Bransul Gilfillen; great-granddaughter, McKanzie Gilfillen; sisters, Sara (Ronnie) Dahkne, Eunice (Brice) Knox, Lela Traylor, all of Blackstock, SC. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Hood; sisters, Daisy Cooper, Katie Fulmer, Emily Trapp, Mamie Cathcart; and brother, Tally E. Hood, Sr.
The funeral service for Mr. Hood will be held at 3 o'clock, Saturday, July 11th at Lake Wateree Baptist Church with The Rev. Mike Pelham officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock, Friday evening at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel. Memorials may be made to Lake Wateree Baptist Church, 5856 River Road, Ridgeway, SC 29130. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at WJB Dorn VA Medical Center as well the Tri-County Home Health and Hospice staff.
