Wallace Mayfield Scott, 92, of Lexington, died peacefully Saturday, December 21, 2013. Born November 27, 1921 in Columbia, he finished University High School in 1939. He worked at Baptist Medical Center where he retired in 1986. Mr. Scott was a member of Saluda River Baptist Church where he was an ordained deacon, a member of the George M. Satterfield Sunday school, and the church choir. He also worked in VBS for many years. After his retirement he volunteered at Dowdy Gardner, SC Mental Health for more than 800 hours. He also volunteered for many years by singing at Lexington Extended Care chapel services.
Survivors include his wife, Vera Mungo Scott; half-sister, Marylin Kriska of Tampa, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents, and by his grandparents, Major Samuel Scott and Ada Parott Scott.
A funeral service for Mr. Scott will be held at 3 o'clock, Monday, December 23, 2013 at Saluda River Baptist Church with The Rev. Charles Westbrook and The Rev. Clarence Boney officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 2 o'clock.
