Mr. Wayne Kilpatrick, 69, of Blythewood, passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2023. Born on January 12, 1954, in California, he was the son of the late William Thomas and Bessie Dishman Kilpatrick.
Wayne was brilliant in so many ways, could fix almost anything and was never one to shy from a challenge. He enjoyed seeing how things worked. He had a great love for reading, music and history. Every conversation with Wayne was an intriguing experience. Wayne loved hard and his love for his family and friends was a steadfast commitment rarely seen in this world. Wayne showed his love for everyone with both his words and actions. He doled out patience and grace generously by giving of his time and was always ready to help anyone he could.
Wayne's sense of humor was absolutely infectious, and he could make you giggle, even when times were tough. The man loved to laugh and tell hilarious stories. He would find the silver lining in the worst of times. He never met a stranger, talked to everyone he met and made friends easily. He was very easy to love, and everyone respected him. Wayne was strong, but he had a soft heart. His childlike spirit was contagious.
Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Cynthia Dennis Kilpatrick and his beloved family; mother-in-law, Maxine "Cooter" Dennis; brother-in-law, Marc Dennis and sister-in-law, Hope Dennis. He also leaves behind; his "children by choice," Ian McCormick (Brenna), Ayden Elizabeth, Margaret Carter McCormick, Marcus Exley McCormick, Maya Spann, Jon Derick Brogden, Nick Brogden and Ethan Brogden. Wayne also leaves behind his sacred circle of friends, too many to mention.
A Celebration of Life for Wayne will be held at 3 o'clock, Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at Sandy Level Baptist Church in Blythewood, SC. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
