Willa Rogers Newman, 88, of Columbia, died July 26, 2013. Born August 4, 1924 in Darlington, she was the daughter of the late Arlie Mobley Rogers and Eula Mae Warr Rogers. She was a Cosmetologist for over 60 years, owning her own salon. Mrs. Newman was a life long Jehovah's Witness, attending the St. Andrews Congregation.
She was pre-deceased by her late husband, Leo George Newman. She is survived by her children, Bobby Newman, Barbara (John) Monroe, Jean (Louie) Stevenson, Brenda (Steve) Rogers, and David Newman, all of Columbia. She was pre-deceased by her daughter, Vicki Newman Everman. Her siblings, James (Mary Lou) Rogers, LouAnn (Joe) Nunnery, Sybil Priester, Lyn (John) David, Susan (Larry) Driggers, and Elaine Bryant. She was pre-deceased by Wallace, Wesley and Ginger Rogers. She had eighteen grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.
A funeral service for Mrs. Newman will be held at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia on Monday, July 29, 2013. Family and friends will be received from one thirty to three o'clock. The funeral service will immediately follow in the Chapel, officiated by David Sims. Interment will follow in Quaker Cemetery, Camden, SC, with a graveside service by Steve Rogers.
