William "Billy" Jake Smith II, 77, of Camden, passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2024. Born in Camden, South Carolina, on January 30, 1947, he was a son of the late William Jake Smith and Ruby Jean Marshall Smith.

Mr. Smith was the loving husband of 37 years to Mrs. Gail Dobbins Smith. He graduated from Camden Military Academy and was a proud veteran of The United States Army. Mr. Smith worked as a water plant operator and retired from Lugoff Water. He was a ham radio operator and member of the Camden Radio Club. Mr. Smith was an avid animal lover and fondly remembered for all the great stories he shared.

In addition to his wife, survivors include his sister, Linda Blackmon and niece, Carol Crook (Eric). Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by in-laws, Yates and Libby Dobbins; and brother-in-law, Richard Blackmon.

The Graveside Service for Mr. Smith will be held at 11 o'clock on Thursday, October 17th, at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia, SC. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
