William Duane Clark, 91, of Columbia, died on Tuesday, April 22, 2025. Born on May 15, 1933, in Detroit, Michigan, he was the son of the late William John and Illys Lee Clark. Mr. Clark was a graduate of Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Indiana, where he received his bachelor's degree in engineering. He was employed for many years in Florida with NASA and relocated to Columbia with his family in 1986. While living in Columbia, Mr. Clark was employed for the USPS and Richland School District 1 until his retirement. He was a faithful member of Rehoboth Global Methodist Church in Columbia, where he sang in the choir. Mr. Clark loved all the splendors of nature and being outdoors. He especially enjoyed spending time on the water and was an avid boater and kayaker. Mr. Clark also loved hiking and camping trips in the mountains.
Survivors include his children, William T. "Tom" Clark (Ronda) and Mellissa Dianne Welch (Marcus). He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Joshua Clark (Kelly) and Cristina Lynham (Ryan), as well as his great grandchildren, Jackson Clark, Amelia Clark, Dorothy Lynham, Josie Lynham, Clark Lynham, and Jasper Lynham. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Dianne D. Clark.
The celebration of life for Mr. Clark will be held at 3 o'clock, Saturday, April 26th, at Rehoboth Global Methodist Church, 6911 Two Notch Rd, Columbia, SC with Pastor Mike Maston officiating .
The family will greet friends and have finger foods and refreshments following the service at the church in the Christian Life Center.
A private burial will be held in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the South Carolina Youth Advocate Program, Inc., 140 Stoneridge Drive, Suite 350, Columbia, SC 29210 or Rehoboth Global Methodist Church.
