William "Bill" Dargan Broome, 87, of Ridgeway, SC, died Wednesday, March 9, 2022. Born October 4, 1934, in Columbia, he was a son of the late Willie D. "W.D." Broome and Inez Bush Broome.
Mr. Broome was a veteran of the South Carolina Air National Guard and was called to active duty during the Berlin Crisis. He retired from the United States Postal Service, where he was employed for more than 30 years. Mr. Broome was a Mason and member of the Blythewood Lodge #395 AFM. Mr. Broome valued his faith, God and his family.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Ansilee Shealy Broome; children, Sheron Gause (Ben), Linda Malone (Scott), and William "Chip" Broome (Ellen) all of Ridgeway, SC; grandchildren, Allison Kennedy (Joe), Brent Broome (Heather), Shealy Robinson (Josh), Kevin Malone (Paige), and Austin Gause (Shelli), as well as six great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Ann Louise Broome.
The graveside service for Mr. Broome will be held at 1 o'clock, Sunday, March 13th, at Elmwood Cemetery, 501 Elmwood Avenue, Columbia, SC 29201. The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service.
